How to Keep Your Communication Devices and Accessories Clean During the COVID-19 Pandemic

As the Coronavirus Pandemic continues across Canada, properly disinfecting your devices is critical to slowing the spread of the infection.

Often times, the people utilizing two-way radios, PTTOC devices, and various accessories are on the front lines defending against the Pandemic. Individuals working in Healthcare, retail, transportation, and emergency response all play a significant role in combatting COVID-19.

In order to lower the risks of spreading the infection, we recommend users consider cleaning their devices and accessories often: these devices and accessories are used in close proximity to the face, so its important to ensure that hands and devices are cleaned regularly.

  • If devices and accessories are shared please clean them before exchanging between users!
  • Devices and accessories should be cleaned before and after each shift, and any time they are handled by anyone other than the primary user. Studies suggest that the COVID-19 virus can survive between 1-3 days on hard surfaces.
  • We suggest dampening a lint-free cloth with rubbing alcohol (with a concentration of at least 70%). Please do not put rubbing alcohol directly on your device.
  • Gently clean your device, ensuring you have sufficiently sterilized in the cracks and crevasses.
  • Using a dry cloth, wipe your device clean.
  • PLEASE DO NOT USE BLEACH, OR SUBMERGE YOUR DEVICE IN WATER.

We hope these basic instructions will help you combat the spread of the coronavirus in your workplace.

STAY SAFE!
